A family in Kenya invited me to their living room/eatery where for one cent locals could dine on intestines and tripe juice. When I was offered a tin cup full at no cost, I didn’t resist. The room and table held scores of flies and behind me were roaches trying to make it up the wall after unsuccessfully venturing to climb my leg. Not a new experience for the men packed in each end of the room. Salty was the taste of this beverage as I finished 3/4 of it before leaving Kawangware. The woman at the house found it funny that I did not lick the cup clean and left some for her to pour back into the pot.
